My xbox 360 is giving a problem, my pc can see the 360 in the Media Sharing (via Windows Media PLayer 11) I can connect the 360 to Windows Media Center no problems whatso ever. But when I go to the VIDEO MUSIC or PICTURE Section in the Dashboard it doesn't see my PC for some stupid reason. I've tried turning off my router and Cable modem for more than a few minutes(even pressed the reset button on the router) Linksys G-Router. Also I am using Windows Defender, Windows Vista Home Premuim Edition and Symantec Antivirus 10.2. Turned off my computer and reset the 360 network connections and still nothing. If their is a solution to this problem I welcome it please help me out!
I just saw this post while googling the internet, so i thought id join the page and help you out. Well out the window with that, lets talk xbox.
I had the same problem recently, i tried several things including yours.
(1)But I fixed it by opening all the ports listed in the (PC Selection: Failed (more info) .. press "more info" in the network area of your xbox 360, as i did and you will find the numbers of the ports in which you must open; This is what i did: Now, what you must do is Go to your PC, select your windows firewall and then press the middle bar(not the "general" or "advanced". My windows is in swedish and I can´t seem to change my language option, weird.)
(2)Now check if all the "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" ports are marked! if not, then mark them. And now check if UPnP is marked, and if not, then mark it.
(3)Now share your media with your xbox 360 on your media player v11, test your Media connection on your xbox and it should theoreticaly work, but we all know that comps and such are unreliable.
Check your ip adress on your xbox. it must not be the same as on the PC, but the subnet mask must be the same though.
I hope it all works out.. if it does not then mail me or answer back on this post. Im afraid im just too confused myself. It worked for me though.
