Network settings for best xbox live connection

My router is 802.11b instead of .11a but to my knowledge there is no way to get to the other with my router so needless to say my xboxlive connection is not all that awesome. So i put a screen shot of my routers wireless settings and am asking for help configuring it for the best connection with a 360 in the room to the right of the router:

very first thing to check is to make sure the router you have is compatible with Xbox Live:

here is some other things:

after you make sure it is compatible then move onto setting everything up. You also may need to open ports on the router:

To be honest i would not change any default settings that you do not have to. Do the port forwarding, and if the router has securty make sure you know the SSID name and passkey to input into the 360. Other than that the default settings on most routers should work fine.
The only other thing that most people fool with is the DMZ settings. You can actually open that up for the IP address of your 360. This can sometimes help but it also leaves a bit of an open space in your security.

I also have a Linksys router and really did not have to do anything to it in order to make the connection.

OK Here are the best setting for any linksys router. First you do not,I repeat do not foward any ports. M$ reps are idiots. Just turn on the DMZ Demiliterized Zone. The ip you assign it is the one your xbox is on. Those are the best setting to have a good nat for XBL.

Oh if you assisn it your xboxes ip you don't have to worry about security because XBL is a closed internet system . In other words only XBL is on the internet. It's not the same internet you share with the world on your computer. This is why XBL could ban your Xbox and the reason why there aren't any viruses as of yet. It's a closed system.

Guess it depends on your connection. I have a good, open NAT on my Linksys router and i did nothing to it. I thought about opening the DMZ up but since i do not have any problems i figured it would not give me any benefits.

Also if you set you PC and your 360 up to use automatic settings (DHCP) that can sometimes help. Again depends on your console and situation. I have two consoles, one older and one Elite. For the older console i set it up manually (Static) and it worked great. I tried that on the Elite and could only get a "moderate" NAT, when i set it up DHCP the NAT went to open.

If your router is up to date every thing should work out fine. But why the static ip addressfor second xbox? Router should detect and assign. I have 2 xboxes both are DHCP. Hell even my Wii is DHCP, not to mention PSP and computer. So what gives. If you have a conflict it has to do with ( can't remember name) but something to do with universal plug and play for USB should be enabled.
