ok new so if i posted in the wrong place i apologize but ne ways i have been buring my avi and xvid ect media to tdk dvd+r 4.7gb dvds for a while. i use a samsung external writer which the firmware has been currently updated and everytime i burn a dvd and play it in my ps2 it skips then freezes up it also doesnt allow me to select any of my chapter scenes either but that doesnt matter. ok i have cleaned my lens in ps2 so thats not the problem, and i burn at about between 2x and 4x still doesnt work and was wondering if any one had ne other suggestions.

1) use better discs
2)try imgburn

tried image burn and i get the same results as nero and winavi. i also tried taiyo yuden media and still get the same results. my external dvd burner is a samsung se-w164l if that matters its only about a month old. i also purchased a different dvd player to see if thats the problem. if you have any other thoughts on the matter i can use just about nething right now

What is the firmware of your burner? Is it hooked up to a 2.0 USB or 1?

my firmware is ts04 the latest for my burner and im connected to a 2.0 usb.

Are you burning your compilations too close too the edge? When you transcode, do you delect a custom size, like 4300Mb for your DVD-Video?

well when i use nero its set for 4.3g and when i use winavi it barely even touches 2g for a 700mb avi file so it seems to stay pretty far away from the edge of the media

Okay. I am just throwing rocks like a blind man here, since the "normal" causes don't apply in your case, since you say you use TY media?Did you try cleaning your DVD burner's lens? Are you defragmenting your drive? Multitasking during burning/transcoding? Do you have an antivirus or other background applications running while burning?
