3 rings of death, but mains pack light is amber lit when off is this the problem?

HELP-- I got the three rings of death, now for 3 days left console outside to cool down and still its dead. I have a amber light on the power pack when its off should this be green? when the console is off ?

Any help please I have been quoted £60 to fix with new extra fan but they can't guarantee it and suggest a 80 % fix rate depending on how far the chipset has lifted off the board? Could be terminal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Console 1.5yrs old

Any suggestions please !!!

you should be able to post it away to microsoft for free repair as they extended their warranty because they had so many rings of death being sent back to them but you'll be waiting a couple of months i'd imagine to get it back, getting through to them on the phone is unbelievable too, better than giving it to some chancer saying he'll fix it for £60 and it still mightn't work!!!

I got mine repaired in a company in Bray wicklow in Ireland for 60 euro 6 months ago and have had no problems with it since, never any mention of "it might not work"
If you want the address pm me, might be worth a shot, definately cheaper than a new one!!

Cheers, Have found someone local to do it for £60 with an extra fan guarantee is about 80% so will bite the bullet and take a chance.

Cant send it off to microsoft as its been opened.
Do you know anything about the power pack issue?

No when the xbox is switched off the power pack light will turn amber and green when its switched on.If there's a problem with the power pack the light will turn red.
Normally the local guys are pretty good at doing the repairs, some of them usually have a website for customers to leave reviews.

I'm from the US, as a precursor, but I had opened my 360 because it was flashed, and I sent it off to microsoft to get repaired when I got the rrod. Two weeks later to the day a new 360 was waiting at my door. So it's worth a shot to atleast try it, worst case they will just send it back. Also, it shows they do get it done in a relatively timely manner, not months. Also, if you register your xbox, I know not all people want to, you can track it's repair progress through the xbox support website. But you would want to register it before you send it off obviously. hope this helps

Guess you were one of the lucky few who managed to get it back in a timely manner, never mind a new one!!! their not famous for it though, friend of mine was waiting for two months though.
