The latest firmware is 3.80m33-5 ^_^
I'm using 3.71m33-4 ^_^
So, I'd recommend 3.71m33-4 as it's darn stable ^_^
I dunno about 3.80m33-5 but I've heard nearly all the bugs are fixed in it ^_^
Also, you can play .iso/.cso games w/o the need of a UMD now ^_^
*Old news, but may be new for you*

3.80 M33-5 is ok really, I think the lagging issues have been ironed out, but yes it's not as stable or reliable as 3.71 M33.
The biggest thing with the 3.80 is internet radio which aint all that big (for me anyway).
I'd go to 3.71 M33 cause even if you fancy a trip to 3.80m33 it is the simplest install ever. Even uses Sony network updater
PsP#1 : 2.01>3.71M33-4>3.80 M33-5
PsP#2 (Slim) : 3.80>3.90M33-2 All hail the UPMS Stck
If you need a UPMS Stick go here and then go here :-) *As recommended by January39

...new news to me!
ok, i dont need internet radio, i would rather have a fw that is reliable. now, back in my day having a PSP that was a TA-082 was a big deal and had a few complications. Mine is a TA-082, what do i have to do to get to 3.71m33^_^... if someone wouldnt mind a little bit of instruction and a link to a legit upgrader would be quite helpful,
thankyou fellaz

im not to knowlagable about TA firmware but you could pandora to 1.5 then upgrade to 3.52 m33-3 then upgrade to 3.71 m33-4 im currently using 3.80 m33-5 fully upgraded its a bit slow but almost all bugs are gone i think the next upgrade of the 3.80 m33-5 should fix it all =]

I too have the TA-082 Motherboard. I am currently running 3.71mm3-4. I know it has been a while, but remember when you first put your custom FW on and there were two methods? One for the ta-082 and one for non ta-082. Before you could put the custom fw on, you had to "patch" the motherboard. I believe that patch, permanently patch the board. I have never had the ta-082 issue again after that initial patch. I think you are good to go. The tutorials now are a lot simpler then the days of the ta-082. Have fun. I am sure you will not have any problems. By the way. I agree that the 3.71mm3-4 is the most stable. I have not upgraded yet. It seems that upgrades are coming out about every two weeks or so. I think I will wait for further reviews. I think the best update to the 3.80mm3 is that you now have the option to upgrade your custom fw just like you would official fw in the setting menu. It is now programmed to go to the "dark alex" site instead of sony. Maybe an end to all of the confusion everyone has. VERY COOL!!

This the guide that I used. It works great! However, I stopped at 3.71mm3-4. I am still not real comfortable with the 3.80mm3-5.

Use the required method according to your firmware ^_^
This is what it says:
Quote: Installation for an OE/M33 firmware
Installing 3.52 Custom Firmware on an OE or a M33 PSP:
o Copy the folder 'M33CREATOR' to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/' on your PSP's memory stick.
In my day we had to format our ms before doing anything so i did, then i tried to go to the directory PSP/GAME150/ but, i dont have a folder called GAME150...
im confused already...what do i do? make a folder called GAME150?

im confused x2. before i forget, im running 3.71 M33! also i have one of the old PSP's, the "fat" ones.
First of all, some of my cso's aren't working, one i have played before (Puzzle Challenge <- [dont laugh]), but now just wont show up when i go to games then memory stick. One i have never played also wont show up (Vitua Tennis 3), and another i have never played will seem to be working fine, (NBA Live 08) it will get to the main menu, let me pick my team, set up the game...BUT then when i try and start a game it freezes while loading... what is wrong?
the second thing that confuses me is simpler, rather than going through all of these steps...

i have been busy lately and have just now found the time to finish updating...HOWEVER, like always there is a problem.
Quote: - You should be now in 3.71 M33

installing the 1.50 kernel patch (150 kernel addon 2)

#put the kernel 150 addon 2 update folder in GAME folder on memstick
#scroll to game on xmb and launch the programme
#thats it you now have the 1.50 kernel
I downloaded the kernel patch, and the update.
I renamed the update to 150.pbp
I formatted my memorystick.
I connected my psp, opened it, then put the update in the memorystick root( the first thing you see when you connect your psp)
I put the UPDATE folder in PSP/GAME
I went to the Xmb then went to game them memstick, ran "PSP Update ver 1.50" it asked me if i would like to continue, i said yes, then it said "incorrect or inexistent 150.pbp at root"
Then the psp restarts.
I have repeated the process numerous time without success.
im lost in the maze that is, 'PSP'. someone have a suggestion or two?
