Guys I'm about to install the d2ckey in my brand new wii.

I can't only figure out wich diagram I will provide for the modder, because he has only done the wiikey so far.

In d2ckey.com, they have 2 diagrams, and what's the difference between them ?

As far as I can tell, the first one is easier, it involves no bottom soldering ... so, why would anyone go for the botton way ?

Another question .. I'm aware that if he connects the L wire, he has to "patch" the jumpers for the region unlock. But what exactly is patching this jumpers (how do you set them) ? My wii is an AMERICAN NTSC , so how would exactly the jumpers bet set ?

Just to finish .. how can I be really sure my wii is an american NTSC ? I tried wii tracker but it only tells me the chip.

If your installer's never done a D2CKey install... make sure they know what they're getting into. The install certainly isn't easy.

As far as the various install methods... some look prettier. Some require LOTS of consecutive IC soldering. Some require damn little. People that don't want to solder to IC legs tend to do alternative installs to vias on the top/bottom of the drive board.

If your installer connects wire L, then the region override jumpers MUST be set. Or just don't connect L.

How can you be sure what region your Wii is? If you bought it in the US, there's a painfully overwhelming chance that it's an NTSC-U wii.

My question is how do you set the JUMPERS ? I mean, I know harddrive jumpers, they are little plastic pieces .. but the chip has 2 metal jumpers .. how do you set them ???

Oh, I bought my wii in paraguay. Is there anywhere in it to read so I am sure its an american ntsc ?

Oh .. and I don't want to be rude, but a generic post like that helps little or nothing ...

If it's the installer first d2c chip, wich diagram should I point him to ?

If you do a search pqdbr for d2ckey installation you'll find several threads on it - one even has a video of the install - that may help you out.

Check your firmware version - that will tell you if it's a US one or not. The firmware end with a letter - like 3.1U - U is for US, E is for Europe (PAL) and J is for Japan.

Thank you.. The video you might be refering to is the one using the flexpcb ... I don't have one, I'll have to go wired.
