has anyone thought about putting a new heatsink and fan in the xbox?
since the xbox uses four holes just like socket 775 motherboards do on the pc, perhaps placing better heatsinks could solve the problem but would i need to cut the case in order to add the new additions...
thanks alot

I already have a replacement fan. Talismoon wisper quiet LED fan. Moves twice as much air as the stock fan. Mine is of course Xbox Neon Green :)

I am really not sure a PC fan will even fit or work very well. You would have to highly modify the console to do that. Plus most PC fans are a lot bigger then they appear in pictures.
Best thing i have seen people do for their GPU and CPU is to take the stock thermal paste off and use Arctic Siler instead. It is a top grade PC thermal paste that most people who know anything will use when building their PC.

@SL7RIPS its ok :)
@Steimy, i have removed the stock fans and place the heatsink/fan combo on the board , needed adjusting but works... bent the xclamp on the side to accomodate the fittings... also cut the case to make room... going to add mesh to the hole that way more ventilation to the mobo,
i have two 360's so i can make do if one fails lol

Sounds nice. Bending the X-clamp may not be such a good idea since a bent X-Clamp is the cause of many RROD propblems. Also when you put in the mesh you may want to think about adding a very fine grain filter. This will keep out dust and be easy to clean. It will only restrick the air flow slightly but not enough that it will make a huge difference.
Hopefully everything works out. The fan runs at a slower speed then the Talismoon (3600 VS 4100) but it will move roughly 16.1 CFM more air at max capacity then the Talismoon will.

ill post pics as soon as possible... what i have done with the clamp is bend the edge of the X way from the board that way, it pulls the heatsink down on the processors... not enough room to put two heatsink fans though

i might purchase a small clamp/vice that you can wind with a key-shaped key thing... i used one in my pc a while back... adds more pressure the more you turn it... you get the picture...

That's not right, why do they care what cooling device you use? That must have been a joke post or written by a complete idiot. You can banned by playing backups for sure, not a freaking fan.

What!!!! did you watch the video he has changed the fan in his xbox for the Talismoon whisper quiet LED fan. He hasn?t turned his fan speed up and of course it?s going to void your warranty you have to take it apart to fit it
