This is probably a dumb question but how do I find out what type of dvd drive my xbox360 has installed.I was thinking of flashing it

You can first look by ejecting the drive.Look @ whast the tray looks like.Google hacking the xbox360 for noobs.They have a part that can tell you what drive you have,but it doesnt tell you the version.You have to open the box to see what it is.Do you know what date it was made.You can find that on the back where your serial # is.That also plays a part in if its flashable or not. If its a gray tray your out of luck on the flashing because after the middle of last year they started putting Hitachi v79 and that one takes a mod chip to flash.Now if it is a blck tray you are in luck.That is a BenQ drive and they also started using last year and that one is now flashable.So gray tray no good,black tray you are good to flash.Hope this helps let me know if you need anymore help.

I'm pretty sure it's a BenQ. It's got a black tray and in the little hole there is a either a grey or white wire in there can't really tell which one it is so I hope it's a BenQ.

It still could be a BenQ.I just Flashed one in the tray was Gray,It was a prem with a falcon Board,Dont know if that makes a diff or not.Also like the post above mine says Match the holes up,I think the blk tray was on the elite at first,either blk or gray tray.Don't really know for sure,so I could be wroung.
