Xecuter 2.3 lite plus not working

Recently installed X2.3 lite +. I never got 2 blue lights on the chip, but I did get just the green light. I thought it was lined up, but when I turn on the box I don't get the blue light at the switch. What I do get is this: it tries to start 2-3 times and then it blinks red-green-red-green at the power switch. I didn't flash the chip yet because I was waiting for the cromwell screen to appear - just to see if it was working.

I have a version 1.0 xbox. I did not desolder the wholes on the motherboard because I wanted the smallest possibilty of screwing up the machine - that's why I bought the 2.3 +. Also, should I have connected the USB power supply that came with the chip. The tutorials that I saw didn't show it was necessary with a version 1.0 machine
