Got a 360, had never used it had it flashed by some1 that has done many others with no problems at all...... got mine done 2day, as i say 360 had never been used, new from online..... Get it home after flashed working fine after 10 mins decide 2 change game and 3 red lights come on.... Guy says he can re-flash it n get it sent back, only owned 360 6 days...... Will i encounter problems???? please give any advise as 2 where i stand, thanks
same thing happened to me with my 360, what I did was got it reflashed but he said it would still have problems in the future so what i reccomend is use the towel trick or something and get it working and then sell the damn thing and invest in a PS3 or a Wii as they are much better consoles and cheaper too when it comes to online gaming....i invested in both the consoles and i am having a good time as i dont have to worry about my NEX-GEN consoles overheating...i mean even the old SNES or NES hell even the ataris didnt have a overheating problem...and this thing does so what does that tell you bout microsoft....well the decision is up to you my friend pick the best console and if you decide to stick with Microcraps 360 then good luck in the future as the problem will remain...
Why don't you get the guy to flash back the original firmware then ship it back to where you purchased it from for a replacement. I am assuming that most retailers and on-line stores don't look to check if the warranty sticker is still in place.
thanks both, phelixnyc i think thats what i'm going to do.... Guy has said he can re-flash & put sticker back on, although after i unplugged it last night it is now working 2day?????? strange? i think i should still send it back though as the same problem may happen again!!!!
sometimes you can get the 3 red lights simply because the cables (power and audio video) are just not plugged in tight. I have also heard of this happening when a hard drive is not on as tight as it should be.
I would give it some time and see what happens. Worst case is that you can get it re-flashed back to the original firmware, have the sticker put back on, and send it back to Microsoft to be repaired.
Have him flash it back to Original FW and call M$ or take it back to the store you purchased it from and they will replace it..... If you have only had it for a week the store should exchange it... If you bought it used then I would still send it to M$ and get it fixed....
hey guys i just had to jump in here. the guy who modded mine bought it new also so when i got it my warranty was no good. well needless to say ive had the thing for like 6 months and the other day... it happened. RROD!!!! i was a little upset but determined to fix the problem myself. so i went to utube and watched these three videos.
$30 and an afternoon later my xbox360 was working again. its been working now for about 2 days *knocks on wood*
Here's the stuff i had to buy:
1. tube of Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound (radioshack $9.99)
2. Kobalt torx screwdriver with a size T9 attachment (Lowes $5.99)
3. 8 #10 size screws/bolts with 16 fitting rubber washers and 8 fitting steele washers. (you can get these at lowes too but the price may vary).
4. a bottle of the highest alcohol percent rubbing alcohol you can find. (i got mine from a drug store and it cost maybe $2 and it was 91% alcohol... it worked like a charm)
5. a small screw driver for taking the outer case off of the xbox (i used a small screwdriver i got out of an eyeglass repair kit from CVS for $1)
5. an afternoon to devote to taking your xbox apart and fixing it.
dont be afraid to fix that bad boy yourself, i didnt know what i was doing 4 days ago and now i could take that thing apart and fix it by memory if i had to. just be careful with the xbox guts and all will be good. i also recommend watching the 3 videos before you go and buy anything so you know what you are looking for. hope this helps.
hi thanks people, rang the online company i bought it from, there sending a replacement out that should be here for 2mo then i have 30 days to return the faulty 1, so will get it re-flashed n arrange 2 get it picked up next week @ no extra charge...
the 3 lights seem to come on when i attempt to eject the disc, it doesnt go right for a good few hours.... not to worry new 1 is on its way....
