Celtic 71 or anone else out there who can help. I have (had) a Starview 1 box which did not update itself and some muppet said he could install software so I would no longer have to update it. He hooked it up to his starview 1 but nothing seemed to happen. He then hooked it up to a starview 2 to transfer software and f**ked it up. It will no longer turn on, the lights just flash and it knocks back. Can someone tell me what I need to do in simple terms, if there is anything I can do. I heard talk of reflashing, jtagging, meeting some bloke in a dark alleyway who will fix it for a price and a lot of other cr*p, excuse the language but this box is really pissing me off now. Please let me know how I can fix it or is it even worth the bother.
Thanks alot.
In Celts absence, she does the nightshift :) You obvious now have the wrong firmware on it follow the bad flash guide here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/531363#3215755 using the instruction below to do it right this time:
You will need to know if you have a clone or genuine
Please click the SV EV Info link at the end of my post to compare clone V genuine boxes.
These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay.
All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos FTA Library.
You will need the GTromloader V4, (Starvi*w Software Uploader), found in the Starvi*w software folder of the link.
You will need version 4.00 firmware for GENUINES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder.
You will need version 2.57_FIXED firmware for CLONES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder.
Updating Firmware
Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)
Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT
that matches the one that is being used
Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC.
Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase
then Download completed message on your PC.
Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before
removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starvi*w will then reboot
Turn off and turn back on , then plug your tv cable and scart back in
Sorry if this has been answered already but just simple question, my friend moving into new apratment in Dublin supplied with Magnet, he has Starview box already would it simply just work if plugged into Magnet system?
