WLIP!!! and MOdding help

Ok here is the deal I have spent the couple weeks figure out how to mod this wii of mine and here is the deal:
1. Found i have the D2B wii with the CUT legs :(
2. Bought a Wlip (which finally came the other day)
3. Tried to connect it the other day by
>Soldering the wires to the correct component (i think)
>Left out the red and black cables because i connected solder both of those components to my circuit board
4. Turned on my wii it still works BUT NO MODDED WII it doesnt read the discs

So my question to all of you is.... Since the Wlip covers all the necessary legs to hook up the wiikey do i need to solder the red and black to the correct components on my wii? and if not what am i doing wrong? Wrong disc maybe i dont know (MAxell DVD-r burned with NERO BURN ROM on 4x speed)

PLEASE help i want to mod the wii before the Wiikey team fixes the whole SUPER SMASH BROs protection
