i am using convertxto dvd (avi to dvd)
it converts it okay and I burn it using the same program
It goes thru the burning program and ejects the dvd
when i try to play the dvd it shows up as blank
other programs says it is write protected
appreciate any help

what you testing play on? pc or standalone dvd player or ps2 ???
what are the dvdrs your useing are they good quailty?
what programs say the dvdr is write protected?
does your avi play ok first off?

thanks for your reply
yes I am using good quality dvd
testing on standalone dvd
it was convertxdvd that gave me the response
and yes the avi plays perfectly
perhaps I should use another program to convert from avi.
i am using vista

ConvertX works fine on vista, but the burning engine is broken.
You have a couple of choices.. Set convertX to make a folder with files, and burn that as dvd files with nero, or forget convertx and use dvd flick and imgburn pairing which work a treat ;)

has this avi got DRM encryption protection?
where did the file come from (careful how you answer on here) walls have ears...

thanks again i have just converted the avi file using dvdflick as you suggested and it worked great
In my destination folder there is
with bup files ifo files
and
vob files
I will now burn with imgburn but before i do a question
do I burn all the files or
just the vob files

all files, and also if dvd flick worked just to files/folders then prolly convertxtodvd would do the same and work, it was just the burning part not playing ball.
imgburn = MODE / BUILD

Vista = pretty and thats it
XP = still works much better
