Are you serious! Wow, get off your high horse. I was on here posting a thread for some help from another topic. I saw that post and was curious. I come here because it has always been a helpful place for me in things Im not up to date on. I have my specialties and so do you. Don't judge down on anyone when they ask for help.

Well tbh there are plenty of stickies and I just went to google and did a search.

http://www.google.com/search?q=wiikey&rl...ie7&rlz=1I7SKPB

So much more info there than anyone answering your query could probably be ar5ed to type m8 ;)

And that's all I ask for. I mean this is a forum. Sometimes it's easier to have someone explain the basic thing to you. I have gotten a lot of help on here and I really like this site. I just think it's rude and not appropriate for someone to come in and say don't be so damn lazy. It takes more to sign into here than it does to google something and I like the info I get in here. Some people just think they are too good to give advice and they can just keep there mouths shut. We all have our talents and you don't learn by not asking.

newguy24 - wiikey is a really popular modchip for the wii, but only 'fits' earlier models easily. It's cheap and easy(ish!) to fit. If your wii has a serial LEH123XXXXXX or higher though, you need something called a d2ckey chip or similar instead. Wikipedia has a page on wii modchips so you can see what's available. All chips let you play your own backups, other region games etc. Some better, more stable, better supported etc than others. Hope that helps mate.

My opinion is unique. Just like everyone elses.

i dont consider "what is wiikey" a serious question and if you are specialist in other areas good for you. However your question was equivalent to asking what is a bluetooth headset?

if you exhaust the obvious places for the simple answers, when you get stuck people on here will help you.

if you spoon feed every new person on these forums regardless of subject there will be a million posts of crap. All the easy questions are answered in stickies at the top of the forum, a google search picks up these hence "use google"

instead of wanting the answer dished up on a plate try using the search button at the top

oh and if ur such a regular on here u should know not to hijack another persons post, this was about playing dvds in the wii not about you and your curiosity regarding wiikey

welcome to here btw and i await your next post

If you are so worried about all the "crap posts" out there then simply don't reply. That was the whole point. I'm not going to go back in forth with someone who needs to spout out his technology knowledge to make himself feel better about whatever he needs to feel better about. I won't be checking the post again so you don't need to worry about me taking over someones post. You successfully did that by spouting off. I will let you cruise around the site a little more to try and run people off from asking questions in here. I guess I didn't konw you ran these forums. You should have told me that you control what gets said in here and it's is completely up to you and your opinion. Grow up man, people are in here to help each other. These are questions that I would like to more about. That's it. Think about it a little next time before you decide that you need to tell people exactly what is a good question and what isn't up to your par because I'm pretty sure I never asked you specifically to answer my question. Have a nice time getting acknowledged for the bad you say instead of the help you supply.

I think that the creator of this thread may have some points about the Wiikey confused. I think perhaps you read that it plays DVD's?

Well essentially, yes it does, just not like movies. You do use DVD's to burn your game backups onto, however, currently this is the only use for them.

Maybe DVD Movie support will be added one day, but I would not raise your hopes too much, as it seems very difficult, and will probably only happen when Wii homebrew is available.

It is one of the many modchips that are available for Wii console users. This was one of the first (if not THE first) modchips available, and as a result is the most popular, with 70% of the modding community using it. It allows for features such as upgrading via DVD, backup of games via a memory card adaptor, and many others. It allows for the direct boot of backups of your games, thus protecting the original.

If you are seriously considering getting a modchip you might want to consider comparing it with Cyclowiz, Wiid, Wiinja etc. and then making a decision. You will also need to know the chipset of your Wii (D2C or D2B, google should help with this) to know which one to get.

And if you are going to get it installed, get it done professionally!

Exactly. We all started somewhere, and it is essentially our job to help people who want to gain knowledge in this particular field get their info correct. That is the entire point of this, and if others deem it necessary to insult others then they should do it elsewhere.

Have you thought they may not actually be being lazy, but they would perhaps like to gain information from genuine people with experience in this area? Searching with google doesn't help someone who is starting from scratch.

did u dare advise him to use google????? Oh My God shame on you, especially after being the person to criticise me for doing the same

all the replies you gave are ALREADY answered, in the posts at the top of the forum, this is where newbies asking newbie questions who have half a brain look 1st, the rest crosspost birdbrained questions in other peoples posts, and get answered by other birdbrained newbies like you.

we all did start somewhere, however we all learnt to use search and read the sticky posts, they are sticky posts for a reason maybe you should respect the fact that we do all help people here, hpwever helping the lazy does them no favours in the long run, it makes them dependant on being spoonfed

Concerning google, I gave him advice and then told them to use google as I had pointed them into the right direction so that they knew what to do, and what to look for, thus enabling them to draw a more realistic conclusion to his problems.

You have obviously forgotten what it is like to start out on this kind of thing. There are so many contradictory comments on such a wide variety of topics it is hard to draw a good outcome. In further fortifying the answer provided with my own reasoning, I am helping them see through the rubbish on the internet and provide another point of view to help them.

This community is about helping. You seem to have forgotten.

And newbie or not, it seems I have answered the question better than you, have I not?
