dont know if this is old news but cjpc announced on ps3news.com that they have successfully downgraded ps3 firmware without the use of flash backup. Doesn't mean anything towards playing backups...yet but its progress none the less. One can only wonder if the ps3 will take the route of the psp.

Remember...I'm new.

I hope they mentioned they are using a dev unit which is useless.Infectus is the only solution for downgrading firmware at the moment,as it works on normal PS3 systems. If someone does hack the PS3 I honestly doubt it will be ps3news.They don't know what the hell they are doing, and you can see what I mean if you look at what they released already. If you look at cjpc's app SAK(swiss army knife) which is a PS3 image dump utility it dumps all the images wrong. They have stated that all current PS3 dumps are messed up,and I agree since the encryption key stored on the BD discs can't be extracted with this technique. They can keep dreaming they will hack the PS3 system, but to be honest they won't get very far messing around with a dev unit. All the code used on a dev unit doesn't work on a normal unit. The people who should get props are the Infectus team, since they came out with downgrading firmware long before ps3news.By the way who cares about downgrading firmwares unless there is a reason for doing so,which they fail to mention.

take this with a pinch of salt at the moment, only proof there showing is a picture which any1 can fake, and as stated above this is being done on a dev unit.

wait for some proper proof like a video of a ps3 being downgraded before you get too excited as in the past a lot of fake claims has come from the ps3news camp

Hasn't Dark_aleX in the PSP scene said something about PS3NEWS being a bunch of liars and virus givers in some readme's of some of his firmwares?
