LU5518 is listed as a D2C chipset. So since yours is LU5534 you more then likely have a D2C Chipset.

For future reference or for other members wanting the link to the Wii tracker you can find it HERE.

Is there actual pictures where you can compare to tell which chipset you have? I have a wiikey in my wii, and I am swapping it for a Wasabi in a few days. I have a NTSC Launch Wii, and in the tracker I can have either a DMS/DMA/D2B. I haven't opened my wii since I originally installed the wiikey, at which point chipsets were not an issue. Does it visibly say when you get down to the drive?

If you have a DMS/D2A/D2B then you use the 5 wire install with wasabii. The 3 chipsets are the same when it comes to Modchips.

DMS/D2A/D2B = 5 wire
D2C/D1A = 9 wire install

To find out what chipset you have for sure you will need to read the top of the DVD drive chipset to find out. Also if you have a Wiikey already installed in your Wii then 100% yes it will be a 5 wire install with Wasabii.

If it's cos you were gonna bang a wiikey in then personally I wouldn't be that broken up - There are way better chips for all Wiis, regardless of chipset and the wiikey is currently a risky investment if you want to be future-proof. The only plus the wiikey has at this time is it's price. Also if it's cos you were not wanting to put a D2CKey in then don't fret there are way better options there too!

Wii 3.2E w/ Wiikey 1.9s :: PSP 3.90 M33-3 :: NDS w/ R4DS :: Nokia N95

I wasn't worried about the 5 wire install,that I knew for sure. But its to configure the wasabi itself. You have to set "jumpers" on the chip itself. I just took out my wiikey, and I looked I have the D2A, so its all good. I do have one question: when I do install my wasabi, I want to install a switch, regardless of what anyone says, I know the best place to put the switch is on either the VCC or the GRND, but both wires should be less than 1 inch with the wasabi install. Do you think it would make a difference in performance or actual use if I made one of them longer so I can have an external switch?

If you go to the Wasabi site and view the instilation it dosent show what points need to be bridged. It only gives the below...

DMS = C & D
D2B = D & E (I would bet this is also for D2A but not for certain).
D2C - No Bridge at all.

As for the switch all you can do is try to connect it and see if it works.

Well I have an NTSC Wii, so I bridge the USA points 1, and for the DMA chipset you bridge the same as you would for a DMS chipset (info courtesy of wiinews.com) points C-D. Thats not a problem, I know how to wire it. As far as DMA chipsets, it is almost as easy as the wiikey. My main problem is that I want to install a switch, but it mentions that the power wires should not be longer than 1 inch in length, which makes it impossible to install a switch. Im hoping if I use a larger wire it will be ok.
