So I can use all the space without games or apps getting corrupted after going over 4GB?

That is correct....
Provided you have a memory stick that is not a fake one, you can load it up with games, movies, and Mp3's...

Do 8Gb Pro Duo's work with any firmware, or only after a certain version?
Thanks.

Looks like the prices on the 8GB's finally went down. They were like $300+ at launch!

Yeah, you can get a good one for about $90 now...Most of the stores like best buy and circuit city still have them for around $129 though.. I imagine they will drop even more when the new 16GB comes out.

I have the same Sandisk Ultra II memory stick, and it's almost full in my PSP. I've fit 12 games on there, and have had no problems. I'm running 3.80 m33-5.
Did you format it in your PSP first? Also - what firmware are you running?

Never heard of newegg.com, but any chance of your memory stick being fake?

Newegg is very reputable, and in fact, recommended - so that's not the problem.
Besides that - I wonder if your card reader can't handle cards above 4gb? I'd suggest loading your games via PSP - that's what I've done.
If that fails, there was a fix that Dark Alex put together for 8gb cards beyond a certain firmware. But I thought that was only for speed/lagging issues. You might want to research that, maybe the update you used didn't include the fix.
