I bought a used console recently. It's working fine right now, knock on wood.

What if it goes bad? I don't have a receipt, since it's second-hand. M$ has a 3 year warranty for the RROD issue, but am I out of luck since I don't have a receipt? Or will they just look at the manufacture date and stand by that?

Although some MS reps will allow you to register a a second-hand console that has already been registered (and you can't verify the information and/or produce a sales receipt), I was told by 2 MS supervisors this-if it has not been registered, you can register it and if it has been registered, you must produce the receipt and/or verify the previous person's info. Like we all know, a lot of MS reps won't require this, but they are supposed to. I wouldn't worry about it man, if you need a RROD, then call and register it, otherwise, I wouldn't.

Say what? So basically, I need to call them and ask if it's already been registered? If it has, I'm out of luck, since I don't have the receipt? And if if hasn't, I can register it at that time and ask for service? I don't get it, it seems that they would want the receipt either way...

yes, sounds like if it is registered you are out of luck. But MS is not the only place around that can fix a 360 these days. You may have to pay to get it repaired but you can get it done. Or for some problems there are many good DIY (Do It Yourself) tutorials on what to buy and how to fix RROD problems.
