The Pirate Bay fights back against ISP block

article published on 7 February, 2008

In an effort to fight back against the recent Danish ISP Block of its site, The Pirate Bay has launched jesperbay.org as a countermeasure. The new site, named after the boss of the Danish IFPI, gives Danish users detailed instructions on how to get around the block and gain access again to The Pirate Bay. One of the admins of TPB, Brokep, had this to say about the new domain name. ... [ read the full article ]

It's sad though that they have to bully ISP's like that. They're just a service provider.

Pirates FTW.

A very worrying situation.. Kiss freedom of information goodbye Europeans.. Now US funded and run business can dictate what you can see and access on the internet.. seemingly without our elected representatives giving 2 shits about our democratic and statutory rights and freedoms.. Big Brother strikes again..

Why did aD highlight Kiss ?? bastard Gene Symmonds again, either that or a reference to a song by another little anti people toerag Prince (here boy.. here boy.. fetch mummys slippers!! !!KICK!!..).. a pox on him, and a pox on the mpaa/riaa and their cronies everywhere.

not really as the servers are scattered across the globe, a case has already been put in the Spanish courts and thrown out, so Spain is a safe harbour just as Antigua.

But the real nobrainer, is that the site is not breaking ANY laws in their country and the IFPI,MPAA,RIAA trying to force US law is only going to stir up already negative US feelings with the citizens, so what is their government to do if they want to remain in power? Show their countrymen that the movie/record industry, not another government, can have such a baring on their laws and abuse their legal system.

BTW the filtering is pointless as all you need is a proxy like Tor to bypass the state controlled blocks just ask ppl in China what tor does for free speech and bypassing filters! http://www.torproject.org/

Spanish court decides linking to P2P downloads is legal

WTO Awards Caribbean Country Right to Ignore US Copyright

and what do they want to do to combat piracy, not happy enough with the likes of HDMI DRM HDCP, well spy on everyone's pc's obviously because isp level filtering (inspecting every packet sent and recieved) is pointless unless you are a CIA stool pigeon like AT&T then you would jump at the chance, regardless of how futile it is for curtailing p2p!

RIAA chief calls for copyright filters on PCs video at the bottom of the RIAA stating that isp filtering is futile.

Or just use the OpenDNS DNS server. Much better and faster!

Brokep, had this to say about the new domain name. ?We?ll associate his name with something positive instead of his negative IFPI vibe.?
hahaha that's tight. i love that quote.

OpenDNS is great. I have so many shortcuts setup that it makes browsing around 10x faster.

all I have to type in my address bar to get to google is g

It's great!

Your comment is a bit melodramatic. Democratic, statutory rights and freedoms don't apply to downloading other peoples work for free. I dislike the RIAA, MPAA etc but this isn't about defending any rights. You don't have and never did have any rights to download content from the tpb. I don't care if you do download from there, I download from there myself but I never considered myself having a right to do it legally :)

The Pirate Bay and Filesharers Backed by Swedish Politicians

Originally posted by link:
In recent years, the Swedish Green Party, which holds 19 seats in parliament, has taken a clear stance on filesharing. Following the raid on The Pirate Bay in 2006, the party board released a memo entitled ?Free the files!? in which they suggested to fully legalize non-commercial filesharing.

When asked about the purpose of the memo in 2006, party spokesperson Peter Eriksson said: ?Our aim is to make laws in line with the new technologies. The other option is to pretend that you can go on like you always have, although it?s practically impossible. Reality has changed.?
American dominated capitalism/globalisation is going to end, you cannot dictate to the world your own agenda, you are not world law. your countries ignorance and/or exploitation of the rest of the planet will end and you will receive your just deserts 3fold.

Fuck the copyright-wing. :)
They can't close the internet, hahahaha!

If they want people to shell out more money for their crap, they should either lower the prices, or make better stuff.

I had a whole thing about how this isn't the USA's fault, looks like I was wrong : http://torrentfreak.com/sweden-threatene...-the-piratebay/

Still, if I wanna pirate the entire world, there's nothing short of jailtime to stop me from doing it. Legal or not.

THAT ISN'T THE POINT!!! If they can get one site blocked then it is a small step to blocking any other that the state or it's business funders disagree with.. FFS when will you stupid f****** people open your eyes and see the bigger picture here? This isn't about piracy (though you retarded "wah wah they are stealing" num f****** keep banging on about it) It's about freedom to make adult choices about what information you make available, and choose to access..

NOT ALL THE CONTENT ON TBP IS PIRATE YANKEE IMPERIALIST BORING FILMS AND DRIVEL RAP MUSIC.. THERE IS A LOT OF FREE LICENSED LEGAL STUFF THERE TOO.. If you want to keep whining on and on about rights to steal go ahead.. BUT.. if you want to support those who would restrict my rights to free digital (or any other form) of information then you should move to China or North Korea and find out what it is like when those freedoms have been taken away!

That is what this is all about, not anything really to do with a few people stealing some crappy films..

Well if that's how you fell then there's always legaltorrents.com to get your non yankee capitalist, imperialist, DRM free, on the house, public source, no license material!

Also, there's plenty of organizations in Europe who are against file sharing of copyright material..it's not just the US.

Which country you from Varnull?

Still haven't seen the real issue eh?

It's not about sharing/copyright or any of that crap.. It's about freedom of choice. It is up to my morality whether I chose to steal or not.. In an open democracy that is my choice regardless of what any government tries to say.. Unfortunately to commit crimes or not is a right we all have.

Finland now joins the ranks of countries like Iran and Canada and China where websites are blocked for political reasons. They say "piracy" but it is all part of a deeper movement to restrict our freedoms in the name of control. Next it will be access to opposition political sites, or western critical sites, or anti globalisation sites, or even your grannies crossstitch patterns because the content is deemed "unsuitable"

This filesharing BS is just an excuse to restrict freedom of information. It's only the tip of the iceberg.. and hell yeah.. I'm angry!!

I do see your point but they are blocking it because the vast majority of stuff on there is copyright! Yes there is some legal stuff but it is a small amount in comparison. It's not about freedom of information, it's about protecting intellectual property. Why would they want to restrict information? If thats the case then all the porn sites wouldnt be around.

I'm sure there's people in Finland who produce stuff that is copyright and don't like seeing it distributed for free. You are not going to lose all your free downloads.

I don't understand why you are so angry if all you download from TPD is stuff that is non-license.

You can't compare it to China and Iran. In those places if you criticize the governments you are jailed or shot!

Anyway I don't agree with the TPD being shutdown either, I think it sux! But i don't agree with your belief that it's because they want to restrict freedom of information. They want to restrict copyright material being freely available. You should understand that my Finnish friend!
