How to replace a dead DVD Drive? Please Help!!!

My Samsung ms28 drive is dead because of a bad flash. I want to buy a ms25 drive and install it, but I want to make sure that I don't need to have the orig.bin or anything to install it. I lost my orig.bin while flashing. Stupid me huh? :)

What do I actually need in order to install a new drive in my Xbox? Thank you for any help and insight that you could provide!!!

You lost your firmware key... that's real bad luck.. Try reading it again.. and then seeing if you can extract what looks like a valid key..

If not does your drive not have a working key now? Are you totally7 sure you didn't back it up like 10 times on all kinds of media like the pros say to do? If that's the case then you have a total brick now.

Without that key your box is worthless.. no point buying another drive for it.. ebay FTW.. maybe you will get £10 for the parts.

yes and no. if you dont have your orig.bin its pretty much useless. however, there have been reports on here of people using someone else's orig.bin and modifying it to work on their own. its been a while since that, but you should be able to search for it.

I've done this... but you still need your original key. Without YOUR drive key, you'll never do anything other than watch movies on that box ever again.

I wonder how you could not have the key!!! You toasted your sammy doing a flash, right? The firmware that you were using should have your drive key in it... pull it out.
