360 not playing my Xvid/Divx videos

I have a 500gb HD that I have been putting movies onto in order to watch them through my 360. They all work and they are all some sort of .avi, .xvid or .divx format. I recently ripped one of my DVD movies with DVDShrink and then converted it with Vidomi. I first tried with a .avi extension and then with an .xvid entension and while both would play on my computer through WMP, neither even showed up on my 360. If anyone has any suggestions or advice I'd love to hear it!

You can try using a program called DivX2DVD (the newer version has a different name but i forget what it is)that is a free video converter and works well to convert the files to DivX.
Personally although DVD Shrink is a free program it is far from being one of the better ripping programs out there for DVD's. The combo of AnyDVD and CloneDVD are much much better.

The problem is that my 360 can't play the output files (divx, xvid, avi) produced from Vidomi for some reason and I was wondering if anyone familiar with Vidomi conversions could tell me the settings for the type of video I'm looking for. I tried the Divx2DVD (which is now ConvertX2DVD) but that is a program for converting from xvid to vob files... I'd really just like to know why my 360 won't play xvid/divx/avi files.

Wish i could help more, but seeing that i have both a DVD player and my original Xbox which will both not only play but upscale DivX i have never needed to use my 360 for that.
