i'm trying to back up DMC 4 and while using xbox back up creator i'm not getting the start tab to come up to allow me to make a backup..do i need a firm ware up date for my samsung d163a drive???!!!

ok so i have this program on my pc and i get this when i put games in my drive to read them

this is not a true 1to1 copie see read me

dont know if this will help
i use a sh-d162c drive and use schtrom 360 extract v 3.2
and it backed up great read and burned only thing is
the game comes up and says xbox 360 needs to be updated to play this game. Not sure if i should do this or not. someone said it would be ok but still waiting for more replys

the error that i'm getting from schtrom is"can't get feature list from drive! it's a dreon compatible drive,but don't seem to be flashed with the right firmware! drive is used as a normal dvd-rom.

Is this an iso file you downloaded of DMC4 or your are trying to backup the og disc?

i updated the firmware with my original disc and it didnt affect my Modded drive whatsoever. so if you have the original then i say do the update. but if you just downloaded the file off the net then i would be a little weary of the update.

what XBXO backup creator version are you using.I backedup my DMC4 just fine.I have 2.7v and I still use the old version on KERON on my SAMY drive.I have not yet updated my drive since its been working fine for me.Why fix whats not broken.

well i bought the drive off ebay and the kreon software already came on it. so no disk. i can't even roll back the firmware to samsung or upgrade the firmward from v.80 to V. 1.0. when i try and use the firmware update tool it tell me that software isn't compatible...crazy huh? Any advice????And my DMC4 is an orginal not an ISO.

i just tryed to use the dosflash and it's not recognizing the 163c drive is that maybe because it's a SATA drive? it sees my pioneer and my Optorite burner but not the samsung so i still can't flash the firmware. this is a huge pain in da azzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

why do u want to upgrade it to 1.0 when the .80 works just fine?? I have the same samsung and it does just fine with .80

have you burnt other games with this same drive before or is this the first game you are attempting to burn? if you have burnt other games before then maybe your drive is messed up in some way. if this is your fist game try backing up a different game then if that doenst work perhaps the ebay guy didnt flash the drive like he/she said they did. also make sure you have all of your settings on the right settings for XBC and or schtrom. other than that... i dont know what to tell you man. good luck.

Yeah this drive 163a is a sata drive and dosflash isn't seeing the sata drive it's only seeing the ide drives. i"m running xp pro bro. i'm thinking it's not the drive it's the sata on my board possible. i'm going i have sata connection on my other pc. i'm going to switch the drive tonight to troubleshoot this a little more. I'll keep you posted.

Sorry about the typos. i have a sat connection on my other pc. I'm going to swap the 163a to the other pc and see if it works. Looks like IDE's with Kreon flashed seem to have less problems.

Does anyone has a sh-d163a Sata? i think most peoples Kreons drives are EIDE. i'm almost ready to go on ebay and buy another one. It should be illegal for them to charge 20.00 for shipping and handling domestically.

Well after trouble shooting this issue all week i found out that it was something with my Mach Speed Viper MK8-939A Socket 939 mobo. i'm not sure what but what i did was reflashed the bios and it started working again. I backed up DMC4 just fine. thanks!!!!

so i backed up my DMC4 disc and burned it. it loads just fine but after it shows the opening company logo's it black screens and freezes. i left it there for 5 mins at black screen and still nothing happens. my other games work but for some reason this one wont work.... what happend? what causes it to black screen?

it could be a bad burn, i suggest you retry the burn. i was playing my backup about 10 min ago and it froze for no reason. im going to try again in about an hour and if it freezes again i will just make another copy. good luck in finding out what went wrong.
