Hi all,
Am going to buy a new slim psp today, and before I do I just wanted to confirm that you can install custom firmware on these.
I know i need to use the pandora method and i have another psp running custom firmware to use for this.
The question really is are there any problems with downgrading these slim psp's? and can any firmware be downgraded?
Thanks

You cannot downgrade a PSP slim to 1.50 >_<
But you can directly install a custom firmware on it using the universal unbricker hack and well, there aren't any problems if you do it correctly ^_^
*3.60m33 is the lowest custom firmware you can go on a PSP slim* ^_^

Thanks for the reply,
this is where i am confused. Do i use the universal unbricker, or the pandora method?
I understand you cant downgrade to 1.5, but do the custom firmwares (3.6+) have exactly the same content as the older psp's custom firmwares?

the universal unbricker is effectively a re-coded pandora to work on slims and fats - this is what you need
each firmware release from sony (and hence cfw) has the features of previous fw but usually with more added
3.90m33 is the latest cfw

thanks again for all your help
as long as you are at 3.52 m33-3 or above you should be able to avoid the incremental updates
README from 3.90m33:

Requeriments:
- Installation requires a PSP with 3.52 M33-3 or higher.

You must put the "Magic memory stick" and the battery without the AC adapter inserted in the PSP :)
EDIT : First, put the "Magic memory stick" and then put the "Pandora battery" :)

Well, which means you've made the "Pandora battery" properly but not the "Magic memory stick" >_<
Try using THIS guide to make your magic memory stick :)

ill try it. I downloaded the 2 files from the guide (about 90m each) and it took a while to load onto the card. Do i load it onto the card in the slim or fat psp? or does it make no difference?
Thanks

You need to write the necessary files to the Mem Stick wich you want to hack your PSP. Preferable beetween 256 Mb-2 giga bytes. The others ms may not work.

You need to run from your PSP only despertar del cementerio as it is said there. You don't need to copy the files and the folders there.

Which two files ??? o_O
None of the files are even bigger than 25mb >_<
Well you're making the "magic memory stick" on your PSP classic which has custom firmware :)
So, you'll have to put the files in your PSP classic :)

You can do it at your own risk, but there are small chances to work. Maybe 10 %.
Try to buy a 256 mb card, it's not too expensive.

Well, yeah may be that's the reason >_>
Is your 4GB memory stick a "Memory stick pro duo" ??? o_O
Insert the 4GB memory stick in your PSP and in the "video" option of your PSP, press "Triangle" on your PSP and then choose "Information" :)
Juz see whether "MagicGate is supported" :)
I would recommend you to buy a "Sandisk 256mb memory stick pro duo" :)
