Burning Wii Disk Images

I have been looking into moding my wii key. I have been reading about how you need a special dvd drive to pull the image from a wii disk. Can you removed this step if you download the images offline for backups? Then can you take that image and use a regular dvd-r drive to burn it with the oorrect software?

If you download the image off the Internet then you can use any DVD burner and quality DVD -R/+R media to burn it. You use programs like NERO/IMG BURN to burn the image to the DVD media.

Thanks, i figured such. I found myself looking around for a dvd drive online, but realized this step could be over looked.
