Hi this is my first post on the forum and i have a bit of a problem.
My PSP suddenly stopped reading UMDs.
When I insert one and close the cover, a message suddenly apears saying,'The disc could not be read.'
I have tried taking the battery out and putting it back in and starting up the console again, but it still happens.
I read some other forums which said to move the position of the laser but everywhere i move it to dosnt work either.
I have also tried many other games but the same message appears instantly everytime.
PLEASE if anyone has any suggestions i will be very grateful.
Oh yea and i dont know if it is important but my PSP is a slim one with ver 3.80 installed i think.
Thanks for reading and i really hope somebody out there can help me.

You're IDstorage may be corrupted >_>
But this is very unlikely to happen as you have an official firmware >_>
My recommendation would be to give to Sony to repair it for you >_>
The PSP slim has 1 year guarantee :)

I think you'd probably have to google for it. I hope you've not had the cover off it though because Sony will more than likely invalidate the guarantee if it thinks that you've tampered with it.
If you have access to a wireless point you could try seeing if you can connect to it, because if you can't, it's a sure sign of a corrupt idstorage (Which is at present, unfixable by anyone else except Sony). If you can connect, it's probably a fault with the UMD drive itself.
My opinions come with no warranty whatsoever, but are totally open-source, so you can reverse engineer or decompile them as you see fit. All other rights reserved.

No i havnt dared take the cover off and mess with it.
I can connect to a wireless access point no bother so it must be something to do with the UMD drive then ?

I read the Help and Support book which came with the PSP and it says that i must look at current software manual or something like that.
Can anyone tellme where i can find this manual so I can get the number to ring sony.
Thanks Morris
