Saw the article below to spoof a Samsung/Benq drive into a Hitachi Drive, would it work for the 0079, since it's a Hitachi also??

it would work, but im pretty sure you would still have to chip the 79 to get the orig.bin off of it. so you might as well just leave it in there if you going through all the work.
