I have been using memorex and they seem to be damaging my drive...I think they are what made my wii loud and damaged the drive to begin with. What do you all recommend?

I have always used Sony DVD-R's @ 4x and have not had any problems yet. I have had 100% first time burn success every time. Also my Wii drive is very quite when I play back-ups.
I do think that I messed up my DVD burner though, if I try to burn music at anything higher than 8x it starts to spin like crazy and lock up. So now I have to burn everything at 8x or slower. :(

Try all the favorites, as you can see lots of people have lots of choices, find one that works and stick with it....

Verbatim succeeds where other brands fail for me. Some Ritek burns work but not all - that might be down to my burner but verbatim always work thus far (using imgburn).

I've been using TDK's and have had 100% success rate. I use the program ImgBurn and burn at 4x speed to minimize failure. The majority (and what my next DVD bundle to purchase) will be Verbatims...but I'll use up what I currently have

I used some verbatims and they're great. I'm just afraid I damaged my drive with the previous discs.....it is louder with actual nintendo games and whisper quiet with burned copies.

I have a Wiikey installed and I use plain 'ol cheap Imation DVD-R discs and have had no problem at all. I burn them on 1x with IMGBURN and everything works out just fine. Only certain games make my wii sound like it's trying to fly off the tv. The rest are louder than originals, but more tolerable. Just use IMGBURN to burn them and try the lowest burn speed possible for the brand of DVDs you are using and see what works!

Ive been using memorex +R, im not sure why everyone states that you should use -R, since ive been using my memorex +R's for over 6 mos with no problem, the drive hasn't had any noticable noise differences with its use.
The only thing i use the -R's for is my dvd recorder - and thats a different story.
-?Whats a mod?-

i've been using Memorex 16x DVD-R's (RITEKF1) and been gettin pretty iffy burns, about 70-80% i would guess, and some work but only about half the time lol. have to reinsert the disc and reboot the drive.
but as far as that goes it could be a number of things other then the DVDs, just havent figured out whats causing it yet lol
but my next spindle will definately be Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens (based on multiple other recommendations)
