does anyone know a tutorial for the benq laser replacment, i have looked everywhere. i know something needs to be soldered on the laser but i dont know what.../

You'd have to solder only if you're replacing the eye and not the whole laser. However, you do have to desolder the static point before installing it.

do u know of any pics for the benq laser. if i dont do the static point will it cause the open tray error...

I can't seem to find any pics of a benq laser, but the static point will just be a small blob of solder bridging two points. Those points need unbridged. And yes, the laser won't work if you don't remove it.

i desoldered it but when i close the tray it spins for a sec then i get open tray error... any thoughts

then stops spinning could that cause the spindle to not spin...

The laser rails could be out of alignment now that you've replaced the laser.

Heres a thread where I've posted some pics. They're of a Samsung drive, but it's the same process.

i think i got a fake laser if that makes any sense. i got it from divineo but it has no cd or dvd screw for a pot tweak, and there is no circuit board on the laser. so who knows...

I just looked at the pic at Divineo for the Benq laser. I wouldn't worry so much about the pots, but are you saying your laser does not have the orange circuit board as pictured there?
