This is a subject I know nothing about. But in short I would like to save my downloaded films of various formats to an external drive that I can hook up like a digital vid recorder and play on my tv. Is there such a unit.
I guuess this may be a MLOM (man lands on moon) question. But i would be very greatfull for some advise.

your right such a thing doens't really exist but you can use

There is such a device. Google portable media enclosure.
You can purchase them with or without hard drives.

Thanks dude. However my pc is on another floor in my house to where the tv is. Is there a transmitter or device i can use for this job.
