Help replacing samsung drive

I recently purchased a replacment h943a drive to replace the drive giving me a E71 alternating with a e79 error. I followed the textbook tut to falsh the new drive and when I connect the xbox to play games it bootup to the logo and freezes. Have I done something wrong and if so, can it be fixed and how do I go about fixing it. I did a dsam 1234567 12345 from the old drive and a fsam 1234567 12345 to the new drive using iprep and a usb. Thank You in advance for any all help. A real NOOOB here, so be patient.

According to the Xbox error codes, neither E71 or E79 are dvd drive errors, so I don't know why you're replacing the DVD drive. E71 and E79 look to pertain to the hard drive or a failed dashboard update. Try disconnecting the hard drive with the old DVD drive in and see what you get.

I am replacing the old dvd drive because it was giving cannot read disk and the tray no longer ejects when you push either the eject button or when you are able to get to the dashboard the open tray selection. It just happens that the e71 and e79 errors started about the same time.
