Hi, I am new to this DVD burning. I followed the instructions to re-author the DVD using DVD Shrink v2.3 and saved it to my HDD under VIDEO_TS file. I than followed the guide step by step to burn by Nero v5.5.10.42 by never success. I always get these lines:
*Formatting media failed
*Invalid field in parameter
*could not perform start of Disc-At-Once
*Burn process failed at 2.4x......
Am I missing some important parts?

You are obviously using an RW disc which I assume is compatible with your burner (ie -/+) and will burn at the stated speed? Most RW's will only burn at 1 or 2x. You can try erasing the disc first by going into the options tag in Nero.

Erase using Nero (either 5.5.x.x or Nero 6)
There is a tab at the top of the page 'RECORDERS' , after hitting that choose Erase / Full Erase

Try burning at X1 : )-~

Yeung3,

When useing Nero, use these steps exactly,

Hint:
When using Nero
How to burn using Nero 6.0.
Step by Step ?
Do not use Nero Wizard.
When you open Nero Burning ROM, you will be at the ?New Compilation? window. Directly under the title ?New Compilation? is a choice block to choose either DVD or CD, choose DVD. Directly under that click on DVD Video. Then click ?New? in the upper right corner of that screen, NOT the main screen.
You now are in the DVD Video window. In the left screen, click VIDEO_TS. In the File Browser screen, 3rd from the left, trace your path to the DVDShrink folder holding your work and click on that folder. All of your VIDEO_TS files are now opened in the right screen. Click on the top file, hold down the ?Shift? key and then click the bottom file thereby hi-lighting the entire column of files. Click and (holding the left mouse button down) drag the entire column of files to the open screen, second from the left.
Now click the icon on the task bar that shows a match on a disc, and then click ?Burn? and Baby, now you are done !!!
Keep all fingers and toes away from Mr. Computer.
Go and have your coffee, when Nero is done, it will let you know.

davidsd - Nero isn't capable of removing the encryption from factory DVDs. You need something like DVD Shrink for that. The reason Nero can do your illicit copies is because they contain no encryption to begin with and it's best not to mention those here.

davidsd,

If you are dealing with a DVD-5 just use DVD Decrypter for a ripping program -

If you are not sure if you are dealing with a DVD-5 or 9, stay with DVDShrink - download and guide are here -

DVDShrink program download and step-by-step guide can be downloaded from ?
