i can't find an answer to this anywhere, sorry if it's been posted.
i have a 2.0j JAPANESE Wii with d2ckey.
i burned 2 copies of ssbb, brickblocked and non brickblocked BOTH regionfrii'd to USA,i did that because i thought i was getting an USA console.
both of the copies won't start,i insert the disk choose the disc channel the gc/wii discs both spins and they stop and a big ? appears with some japanese letters.
if i burn again the game to a dvd,WITHOUT regionfrii and brick block will it work?
do i need the internet update or can i update from disc?
will updating from my disc brick the console?
do i need to insert DVD 5 first?
the discs that don't work are both DVD9.
all of my other backups/originals run perfectly.
method of burning:
IMGBURN 2,4x speed
Ridata +r DL(media)
regionfrii to usa.
Manually set layerbreak to: 2084960
ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

You will need to burn a copy with the update on it.
If you have a NTSC(J) Wii there is no need to Wii Brick Block or even region free the ISO.
Ones that have used brick blocker on the ISO are ones from PAL or NTSC(U) regions and used the 15% unplug trick with a copy that had the update on it so the Wii didn't have 2 extra news/weather channels added. After that they could then boot the copy that was Wii brick blocked.
I myself just had it update adding the 2 extra channels then i just moved them to another page on the Wii menu so they are out of site.
So do as you did on your previous burn but do not Wii Brick Block the ISO. It is safe to let the game disc update with the update since you have a Japanese Wii system and will not have added weather/news channels.
Burn speed should be set at rated or half the rated speed of the media.
You might want to booktype the Ridata +r DL(media) to DVD-ROM. Select this by selecting the little book icon in the bottom right corner and select the TAB that represents your burner brand. under "Change For" select "Drive(DVD+R DL Media)" for "New Setting" select "DVD-ROM" then click ok.
There is no reason to region free if you have a Japaneses Wii.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH,i recorded the DL image on a single layer disc!
i got some I/O error at 2,5GB recorded then i put the disc and it updated the console to 3.1j with no problem at all!!!!!(of course it did not run the game)
tomorrow i'm getting more DVD +R DL,gonna record it again(the CLEAN iso with no brickblocker or regionfrii)at 1x w/layerbreak set and the booktype thingy.I think that the DVDs didn't work because they were set to USA NTSC region,i think my chip doesn't have region override.
will post back results.

Why are you setting them to NTSC(U) region if you have a NTSC(J) Wii?
The only time you use aregion frii would be on NTSC(U) or PAL Game Disc.
