I've read the "code problems" thread, but I'm still stuck with a problem - is there any way of checking all codecs on a system for proper installation and validity? Lots of video apps, including latest MPC, are crashing, and there's general codec weirdness.
You can try K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool. You can get it here http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/KLi...ol/1183386542/1 But essentially , my suggestion is to download K-Lite Mega Codec Pack v3.7.5. There is so much deliberation as to whether or not to install a horde of codecs in your PC, but it sure is the easiest way to playback the most branded video files of today. The tweak tool, by the way, is also included in the mega pack. During installation, it'll actually detect/fix broken codecs in your machine. It's advisable to uninstall whatever codecs you have that didn't come with your computer first, before running the installer.
