why are people this linux an other stuff on the ps3 ?? wats wrong with the way sony made it does the job for me songs video pictures games are good! why back up games just mind em like keep em clean an boxed ! wat is the advantage of linux like wat can it do better??

It basically gives your PS3 all the capabilities of a PC, basically what it can do isn't limited by the OS like with the PS3's normal firmware. Plus you can run and install programs that you otherwise couldn't.

Well it all depends on your setup, whether or not you have a HDTV, already have easy access to a computer, or simply your willingness to learn how Linux works.

Linux is fairly simple depending on what model/version of it that you choose of course, and its fun to learn a new OS and possibly useful down the road as well. Since your PC is right around the PS3 you might not get a huge amount of use out of it though.
