just some quick insight please..i have looked all around and get different answers, i have installed my wiikey, turns on, plays original games, have not backed up any games as of yet though..so my
question is, do i have to do any kind of firmware update or anything to play backed up games?? thanks

no just play. If you need a firmware update then you'll know when you try to play the game. The proper way to do a firmware update is to update over the wireless. Don't bother updating from the disc unless you KNOW that the disc is from your region

thanks, so for no reason, if the back up says update needed , do not do it from disc..how about this region free update? is there one out there somewhere?

You can set the wiikey to any region and it will play other regions (if on the compatibility list) but the idea here is to update only over wifi so you don't make the mistake of updating from the wrong region using the disc. You can still use the disc to update if you are 100% sure that it is from your region. It's best just to only update from wifi so you don't have to worry about it.

(The exception is if you have a wii that came from a different region other that where you are physically located and updating from)

okay, i was under the understanding that the update 1.9g was for an region override then it wouldnt matter...thanks
