sorry for your misfortune. Canon"s new printers, I don't believe, will use the cheap generic ink, the BCI-6 carts I use.

I am from the US.
The TYs that I had no luck with were of two types. One was their "Value" DVD-Rs and the others were the cakebox version. Both were, it should go without saying, white matte hub printable. Why would someone use anything else on an inkjet printer?
But wait, the plot thickens...............
I bought an Epson R280 and it prints acceptably well on the TYs. The Riteks still look markedly better, however.
So the R220 goes to Cuba and I'll stick with the R280 and my Riteks.

Matte Full hub inkjet printables are mediocre-IMHO. If you desire better looking covers than the originals-step up to the Full hub shiny and Ty Watershields.
Shiny inkjet printables look very good and give a distinct picture on them.I used the reg hubs a few yrs ago.Now they are abundant in full hubs.
Better than those shiny's,comes the Ty Watershields. Side by side with a matte full hub,the watershield covers blows them away.

I've got 2 unopened spindles of Hitachi Maxell Full hub Matte inkjet printable that I'll probably ebay them.

Those discs look sharp! I wish they sold those in Australia! Anyone want to send some ever to Aussie land?
Saugmon, are you saying that you can get a little water on these discs and the ink wont run?
Whaaaaaat... If that is true then these discs are definitely the way to go. :-D

I think they look very shiny, too, but they're not my taste. At twice the price of Matte Disks, I can't imagine I would ever consider using them.

I'll pass on them too as I prefer a matte surface for my CD's & DVD's. Oh & if somebody doesn't already know, silver inkjet prints darker than white inkjet discs.

When the kids get a hold of any of my backups, finger print city after that. I'll clean the discs with my eyeglass spray bottle-both sides. Then wipe them off with a silk rag. The matte's,I have to just clean bottom only, and be very careful on the top side.
I just sprayed one of those Ty WS with eyeglass cleaner. No ink bled off onto the silk rag. It wasn't slippery like you'd think. It still felt tackified, just like they were before the printing. So it passed my water test.

Here's some lighter cover full hub matte:

Lighter cover matte's totally suck! They do look better with the Ty and Shiny's.

What scan setting did you use? 2400 dpi or higher? I tried 1200 & it didn't look very good. 2400 was better & took 6 minutes to scan. Didn't try any higher as I know it would take much longer perhaps twice as long. Instead I'll make my own labels & print them with Acousticia like I do with the DVD recordings off of the cable DVR. That will be fine for me....

I don't know what you're doing but my prints onto white matte hub-printable don't look anything like that. I wouldn't be happy with those either.
There isn't a right and wrong way to do this, as with all such things. It's totally a matter of personal preference. I never use glossy paper to print photos on either. I much prefer the matte finish.

Over time,my Matte full hubs are fading in my binders.
Mr Bean and Spring Break-pretty much the pic I posted matches what it really looks like up close-a lot more fading.
Rush hour3 and War: The pic I posted looks better than the Matte. That pic I posted,is 5 times worse than the actual backup disc.My camera can't capture the true quality of these glossy prints.. Too close, gets a lot of glare. Too far, like my pic,and can't see the true gloss.
I use the Glossy photo paper for the original Case covers, and they look just like original as well.

OK. That's still not MY experience.
It's not a right or wrong thing, or a better-than or worse-than thing either. It's only what fits your bill.
I don't like the hyper-shiny look, but that's just MY taste. I also don't care to pay twice as much for it. That's not just my pocketbook talking, either. If both appearances were available to me for the same price, I would choose the matte finish. That's just me, I guess.

I just found a Verbatim equivalent to those TY watershields. I am in Australia, so Taiyo Yuden isn't readily available here, or at least everywhere I have looked they haven't stocked them.
So, as Verbatim is considered to be in the same league as TY's, I figured their gloss finish discs would bring the same quality. I have done some prints on these new discs and they look amazing. I would say that they look as good as the original disc. I'll take some shots soon and post them here.

Thank you, but those discs are too expensive. I can't see myself paying $92 for a spindle of 50. I don't even pay that for dual layer DVD's. I do appreciate your help though. :-)
I recently started working with a large electrical retailer and I can buy at cost price for myself. I am able to get those Verbatim gloss finish discs at $6.00 for a pack of 20. That's the exact same pack that site is selling for $23.00 (the 20 pack with slim jewel cases).

I think the wife would put up a bit of resistance though. I might try to sell the R380 in the marketplace, but it suffers the from the tray feed disorder that most do.
I have the RX680 which has the same CD tray feed as the 595 & have had zero problems with tray loading. Line up the arrows then print. Cheapest Claria ink is Amazon followed by Mictocenter. Both are online. Just remember that the 5 packs do not include black so you will have to buy that one also.
