Ok ive got my xbox dvd drive working but it has been flashed and my orginal backup is only 1k long so i dont have the drive key, ive read the firmware again and theres no key in the backup, any ideas how i can fix?

Does it read Games?If it doesn't it's gone for good, well atleast till one day when and if it get's hacked.If it does read Games(not movies) try to read firmware again and back it up.

it dont play games! ive tried reading the firmware using dosflash 32bit and it writes the bin file byt when used with firmtool theres no dvd key, is the xbox a hunk of junk now?

Ya sounds like its junk.If it wont play games in it never saved the dvd key,its junk,and seem how you flashed it wroung meaning with no key it wont read the key cause there is'nt one .When you tried to read it in toolbox it was prob all f's or 1's that is what you flashed it with.Next time before you flash something always take the extra few min and boot back to windows and check it with toolbox before you flash anything.
