my xbox's disk drive doesn't work anymore. the laser has burnt out. so i was wondering if i could pull out the "d" drive from my computer(i would still have an "e" drive) and put it in my xbox. would that work or would i have to buy a new one or send it off to get it fixed?

no, that wont work.
you need to replace either the laser or the hole drive with a replacement drive, it has to be a xbox drive, and to make it easy, replace it with the same drive that is in it.
I have lost all and any respect i had for this site!

Actually, it is true. It was possible because the pc drive was built very close to the Benq in the 360. It needed modified firmware, of course.
But those drives were oem in a Dell pc and are very hard to find.

You're the only one who knows which drive you'll need. Unless it's a Benq, you'll have to open the 360 and find out which version of Samsung or Hitachi you have.
