Do I want the skulls in Halo 3?

Ok, I want to get all the armor so I was looking at guides and they say that getting the skulls makes the game harder, like making enemies health increase, or making the only way to generate your shield is to melee and enemy. Is this true.

For one of the armors I need to get 1000/1000 gamerscore, does this mean I have to do it in one campaign, or can I do legendary campaign twice?

I'm looking to buy a 360 so I'm new to the concept.

(I realize I can't get all the armor unless I get the recon armor which is only for microsoft members and special community members)

the skulls only make the game harder when they are enabled. you have to manually enable the skull of your choice, such as shitty armor, firing from the hip, etc. also, you can play the game as many times as it takes to get the 1000/1000 points as many of the points come from playing on live.

Sweet Man thanks, I think it would be impossible to beat it on legendary with all the skulls on. This is great.

If you got three other friends Legendary is cake even with a lot of the skulls on. As someone who went to the effort of getting all the achievements, don't do it. Some of the online ones are annoying to get and in the end all you get is a Katana on your back. Which after I got it I noticed that sniper shots to the sword handle would actually kill me rendering it less than perfect.
