Hi basically i downloaded two games which were in NTSC. I then used wiigionree to make them into PAL format. The Mario Olympics works perfectly. But when I tryed the Mario Galaxy it says i need to update the wii but someone told me i shouldnt update otherwise the chip wont work. What do i do? I dont know what chip the wii has but it plays all my back ups i have. How can i find out what chip it has?

Thanks

open up the wii is the only sure way to tell. You can try downloading the wiikey config disc and see if that will load. If it loads then you have a wiikey, if it doesn't then at least you've ruled that out. Who modded your wii for you? Ask that person.

OK basically i used a configuration disk given in rafadawns topic about how to update the wiikey. I used the:
GCOS/PADDED version of Original Config Discs:
Config 1.3 (PAL)
This worked and it showed as a GC disk and booted up, i went into configurations, this also worked.
Does this mean i have a wiikey?
If it does how do i get the Mario Galaxy game to work?(it askes the wii to updated)
The wii version is: 2.1E
It is not connected to the internet

You can't find out what version the wiikey is.

Just update it to 1.9g

Update the Wii firmware by connecting to the internet if possible - you use the update on Wii settings page 3 option 3.

If you can't connect to the internet you update using a game from your region - i.e. if you have a PAL Wii then use only a 100% PAL game with the update on. Anything other than a definite PAL game is a risk to your Wii.

Look at stickied threads to check which games have the appropriate update. I believe SMG has 3.1

You won't get double channels if you do stuff correctly. That is one of the problems that occurs if you update with a game not intended for the region of your Wii.

Absolutely right. You will be updated to 3.2E assuming you have a Euro PAL Wii.
