ok, im not sure if this is the right forum , please move thread if it belongs somewhere else.

ok, so i can't afford to buy the wireless adapter for my xbox 360, but since it's right next to my computer i just used a 5 foot Ethernet cable to get the wireless internet from my computer to the xbox.
The only problem is when i play online it lags terribly. So i tried the same setup with my laptop and it worked perfectly.
My computer is by no means slow, infact it is much faster than the laptop and runs great in every other aspect, are there settings that need to be checked?
any help is appreciated.

Yes, i would check over some settings. If your PC runs on the internet fine then it is something between the PC & 360.

Are you using a router or are you plugging into a modem?
Also since you are using an ethernet cord you are not wireless. Wireless means no wires between the modem/router and your 360.

It could also be a program like a firewall or antivirus or something on the PC that is not on the laptop slowing you down.

how the set up is is i have a wireless router and my computer gets the internet from it,
my xbox is conected to my computer through the ethernet port and the computer transfers the internet to the xbox, so it acts like a gateway.
the inly problem is it goes really slow. What settings can affect this?

have you tried hooking into the router instead of the PC? That would be how the normal set up would work.

And the settings that could effect it could either be in the router like:
Ports not being forwarded for Xbox Live
DMZ settings needing to be set up
UPnP being enabled

or it could be on the PC or ethernet card, so it is really hard to say what it could be as with networking there are so many options.
