This weekend I un-bricked my brother's TA-082 PSP via Pandora and updated up to 3.52 M33-4. Now, most times when i try to play a game from the MS, it freezes at the white PSP logo. However, sometimes it does proceed to load the game and he can play, but only sporadicly

The game on the MS works on MY PSP, which is running 3.90 M33-2, but for testing purposes i downgraded mine as well and put 3.52 M33-4 on it and it played flawlessly.

Also when trying to update HIS any further, it says that my idstorage keys are corrupt, and asks me to press X to auto-fix them. When i press X, it says it is finished correcting and proceeds with the update. It seems as if everything is going fine, then the update gets to 99% and says update failed (FFFFFFFE). I have also used KeyCleaner on it and tried to update to no avail.

What could be the reason for the sporadic freeze and load, and the PSP not updating?

Well, your IDstorage is corrupted and till now, there is no perfect way of fixing it without a "NAND dump of that PSP when it was working perfect" >_<

Try downgrading his PSP to 1.50 and then update it back to 3.52m33-4 and then see if gets updated any further >_>

Most TA-082 motherboards have such type of problems >_<

Did pandora again. Once i updated to 3.52m33-4 it's still a no go.

I was thinking that maybe the firmware is doing the freezing. Could that be so? Could going to 3.51 or lower help?

Make a new MMS stick using DCv4, this bypasses key 5 and takes you straight to 3.80m33

i did the network update to go 3.90m33-2, but it continues to freeze at the white PSP screen. It does this when trying to run ANY homebrew/isos.

Also, when trying to load the HB and/or isos, the MS LED does not light up at all. When the light does flash, it will usually load.

Well, do UMDs work ??? o_O

I think your NAND has been corrupted >_>
Did you make a backup of your NAND when the PSP was alright ??? o_O
If no, then you're in BIG trouble >_<

UMD's freeze as well, or get game cannot be started. Nothing seems to work on this one. No NAND backup, because he bricked while trying to install OFW. When i unbricked, he decided he wanted CFW

Well, anyone would go for a cfw after they brick their PSP :)
If you don't have a NAND backup, then it's impossible to revive your PSP :(
Although, there is a way to restore the PSP to play .iso, homebrews etc. >_<
Quote:
If you do not have a Nand dump: in this case you will be able to restore a fair amount of functionality but not all (UMDs will not function but ISOs/homebrew will). ONLY do this if you do not have a Nand dump!

You will need to use Nandtool to dump the KEYS (not the Nand) from a PSP of similar type (i.e. slim to slim ? fat to fat). Once you have done this use Nandtool to write these KEYS to the PSP with the corrupted idStorage. Once you have done this you will be able to run ISOs and homebrew again.

Nandtool 0.3beta (do not use earlier versions) ? read the readme carefully

I dunno whether this method works cuz I haven't tried it >_>

But according to what I know, replacing your IDstorage with the IDstorage of another PSP should damage your PSP >_>
Oh Well >_>

Will a nand dump from another TA-082 PSP work? Or does it have to be from this specific one... I did not understand the directions in the source of the post above, kind of hard to follow.

Do not replace the NAND dump of another PSP :O
That will TOTALLY spoilt your PSP >_>
You'll have to use the Nandtool to only dump the "KEYS" and not the "NAND" :)

Try the following thing :-
Access the recovery mode of your PSP :)

To access recovery mode follow the following steps :-
1. Completely shut down your PSP (Not stand-by)
2. Hold the "R" button (i.e right trigger) while starting your PSP ^_^
3. You are now on recovery mode
It should look something like THIS

Then, go to "Configuration" and in "UMD mode" switch to "Sony np9660" :)
Then go to the main menu of the recovery mode and then go to "Advanced -> Advanced Configuration" and "Disable" all the options there :)
Also, some Game homebrews work only on 3.xx kernels :)
Try putting the non-worknig games in the folder "GAME352" instead of "GAME150" :)

Also, if you have "3.52m33" firmware, it is recommended that you update to "3.52m33-4" firmware :)
