I have a Phat PSP with 3.90 M33-2, and I want to play ps1 games on it, Do i need a 1.5 kernel add-on? What is the best emulator? What is POPS? Do I need it?

you dont need the 1.50 addon to play psx game but you will need it to play homebrew apps and emulators.

heres a good tutorial for ripping psx games

as for popstation iv never realy read up on it i dont think you need to install it because it should run the psx eboot from the existing sony emulator but im unsure on that.

Im not sure about the kernal add-ons for Fat PSP's as mine is slim, but with regards to the creation of the eboots, i use a program called ICE TEA, which i have never had any problems with. I have played quite a few PS1 games using this and never had to install any other popstation software etc. Just open the program, tell it were your .iso is and start it running. Then download the POPSTATION GUI by danny_kay1710, go to the FILES folder and copy the "keys.bin" file.
Paste this into a folder with the eboot and transfer to the x\PSP\GAME folder.

Job Done.

Within ICE TEA you can also go to the "advanced" tab and add images for icons on the XMB etc.

I can write a full guide for this if its needed, and show you where to d/l the programs from, just let me know.
