it only works on gamecube games. Read the fine print. I read this article yesterday. Also it's been confirmed that wii updates disables this device. LOL

I read it. And I'll quote it.

As well as letting you play Wii games from all regions, Wii FreeLoader also works with imported GameCube.
Play ANY region of Wii or GameCube game on ANY Wii

And where was it confirmed that updates kill this?

I don't know where you're getting your information but its wrong. Also on the same page that you listed the last spec says and I quote:

"100% unofficial."

LOL, boy I trust a site that adds that to the end of their posting.

I got my information from that link I posted...
And of course it's unofficial, it's from datel. None of the other freeloaders were official. Codejunkies is quite legit.

either you don't update your wii to 3.0 or up, and don't play the new games coming out, or ditch freeloader. simple as that.

everyone knows about freeloader being disabled on the wii after the 3.0 update. people who owns/owned freeloader got extremely pissed because it was the easy way to play import gamecube games.

yes, but that's the old freeloader is it not? The source dates back to August 2007.
This freeloader is due for release in about 10 days. It's not the GC freeloader that doesn't work anymore on updated Wii's.
It's a new one that works for Wii games as well.

Am I the only one who's actually excited about this? :p

Guys you are all getting confused ok.

The screenshot posted above is the OLD freeloader that was released for the wii to run backups because the original freeloader didnt work.

this one http://uk.codejunkies.com/Products/Wii-FreeLoader__EF000595.aspx

that the OP posted is a NEW Freeloader specifically for the wii that loads WII GAMES.

Look at the box art in the link compared to the screenshot from amazon.

The Codejunkies one says "Play Your wii games from any country on your wii"

gamecube region free is a feature of the disc aswell.

THIS + WIIKEY (or other modchip) COULD SOLVE THE PROBLEMS WE ARE HAVING WITH IMPORTS ON OUR MODCHIPS.

i guess the issue people are trying to point out is that newer systems like the wii are updated frequently. so software bypasses will work only as long as it takes nintendo to block them thru their firmware.

i mean even hardware hacks are defeatable to a point, but at least we can update them. will freeloader offer you a free upgrade disc or download each time? i doubt it.

but with a mixture of a hardware hack and this kind of software, i can see it become quite possible to defeat nintendos region free aswell as doing so with backups

Will this allow the use of dvd-r games on the wii without modchip?

with a little more research, I have found that Auron09 is correct. This is for wii games as it is a NEW release of an old product. So I stand corrected.

I'm still nervous though that Nintendo could just block this with a quick firmware update as they did with the other datel freeloaders. At least with my wiikey I can just update the chip. You can't update a factory stamped dvd!

Datel sent an email to codejunkies in which it says that freeloader deactivates the update and reactivates it when you put the disc in a second time (or something, I don't know anything about this stuff).

cba to look up the info again, its somewhere on codejunkies :P

very interesting, i guess this means if you use it to load Official (non backup) games it initiates some form of software brickblocker.

Im very interested to see if a

modchip -> freeloader -> currently none working backup = working solution

for example. i have a backup of No More Heroes (NTSC) that doesnt work on my wiikey, would running freeloader first make it work, only time will tell.

one would assume you would need Forced region free turned off and the disc settup in its original region (no region frii on the backup) otherwise the freeloader would detect it as a PAL (in my example) and cause the same errors

Sounds convincing, and logical. But I can't find the info on Codejunkies. The only info they have about their freeloader, is when you click on my link, which describes the product.

Maybe I understood it wrong, but a user on a dutch forum posted the following:

Quote:
Codejunkies
Dear Customer

Further to your email we can confirm that on every occasion that the product is used when the disc is inserted in the console that it allows the usage of any imported Wii game discs and disables the console from been able to update its firmware, if the disc is removed after been inserted and reinserted this will again enable the console to update its firmware but still allow the usage of the any imported Wii game discs.

Regards
I'm not sure where he got it from. Anyway, the forum itself isnt some troll forum and 99% of the time something is posted there it has a good source. Then again this might be 1% of those times and I dont want to get anyones hopes up. :P
