I was waiting to see someone integrate there Modchip for all Wii chipset versions. I wouldn't be surprised if Infectus 2/ARGON/D2CPro also follows suit.

Yeah - I agree it looks like a chip that sets a new benchmark. If it's as good as it looks then all other chips become old very fast... The Wiikey might hold it's ground depending on the cost but not if there's a chance that the extra measures Wasabi are taking with their chip become necessary as in this info...

"Did you know that current ISO dumpers are currently missing a few KB of data stored in the barcode (BCA) and lead-in area ? This "extra" data could be read by the console and used to detect chips. SMG and SSBB are the first games to call one of the related drive commands, without interpreting the data yet. We take that as a warning. Thanks to on-board memory, the "extra" data of your whole game collection could be stored on the chip itself if that becomes necessary. The flash memory is also used to store the drivecode and could store patches and Wii/GC binaries in the future."

Man!! I like this modchip can't wait to see how it does before i try it myslef. It sound like a "wiikey" for the D2C with almost same functions such as using dvd as a source of update. Cant wait to see how it does....;)

Looks like there is a new Wii that Wasabi can't handle: http://wiinewz.com/forums/wasabi/67015-w...ot-working.html

I have a USA D2B (cut-pins) w/ Wasabi chip and all is fine. If you follow the install just like Wasabi's website explains all will be fine. If you have a D2C chip then you will need to solder to 2 IC pins (not fun). This is by far the easest install. The chip gave me no problems and as long as you are careful, even a noob can do it... If you want to do the 30 pin install go for it (Props to MacModder). Watch a YouTube vid and keep Wasabi's PDF up on your PC and everything is easy cheesy.

Stats:
15min - open Wii
15min - close up Wii
30-1hr - solder

If this is your first time, look at 2+ hrs

Tools:
1 tri-wing screw driver
1 small #1 or #2 screw driver
1 35 watt solder iron (radio shack 7.99US)
1 30 gauge solid wire
1 30 gauge solder
1 Wasabi chip (55US)

Either double up on the 3.3v and ground (i.e. twist two 30 gauge wires together) or go find something around twice the size.

Use the solder points on the board, don't go dropping solder...

Tin your iron and drop solder on the Wasabi first. Don't go trying to tin your wire first without solder on the chip. I think the hardest part for me was forcing the 3.3v and ground to stay on the Wasabi chip. The easist part was the points on the drive.

DON'T try to drop solder on the drive!!! Use the points already there, that is solder toooo you know...
