Hi guys,
this post would seem repetitive but believe me it's not :)
4 days ago, I bought a WII (PAL) and updated it to firmware 3.2.
After making sure it works fine through some heavy duty gaming :) and that i dont need warranty now, Id like to mod it by installing a chip. The posts speak about many kinds with different features (updates, etc).
Now I would like to know which mod would work for me and where to get it.
Thanks in advance

Of course it's repetitive lol

This get asked all the time ... believe me...

anyway - the chip depends on the drive version. You need to check your serial here.

http://wiitracker.nintendo-scene.com/search.php

If it's a year old then it's likeley to be D2B or earlier you can prolly put a wiikey in (the most popular and established chip for drives like that). There is a brand new modchip which has been developed though.

This may well be a better option but it's hard to say.

If you have a D2C drive (unlikely in your case) then I'd say the wasabi is the chip to consider... but it's still early days.

Thanks dude for the reply, here's the output of the wiitracker:

There is a 50% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2C
There is a 50% chance that the pins on your drive chip are not cut.

what chip would you suggest and where can I get it? (I want sthg upgradable) so ... :)

Personally I'd wait and see what the reviews for the wasabi are like and how much it is. Depends how eager you are really. If it's matter of life & death I'd prolly go for the infectus argon. That's just me though m8 - somebody else might say D2Pro.

wiikey is no good for you btw.

oops - hang on m8 - I misread your post - 50% chance means there's a 50% chance it isn't D2C as well meaning it might take a wiikey.

Sorry for that - unfortunately the info isn't decisive so it means looking inside to verify the drive. With it being an older Wii I'd have thought it would actually take a wiikey but there's only one way to be sure I'm afraid.

So what would the safest bet be? The wasabi will probably ship later on, and I really want to use 3rd party software on my console :(
Thanks

what exactly makes you think that you can run 3rd party software on your wii? There is no homebrew for wii yet! You can run some older gamecube homebrew using the gamecube emulator but nuttin out for the wii yet.

They have tetris and pong working using the zelda savegame exploit. But I think he means that he wants to be able to run homebrew when we get some, becasue as time goes on there will be more and more of it.

I'd wait and see what the reviews are like for the wasabi and how much it costs. If you can't wait then you will have to find out which drive is in your wii and if it's D2B then I'd go for wiikey but if it's D2C then I'd go for D2Pro or Argon - there is another as well Infectus - all updateable I believe.

Thanks a lot guys for your input. I guess the safest bet is the Wasabi (according to what they say). Ill wait till the end of the month and if it's really all they say, ill order it.
Thanks again, any additional input would be highly appreciated though :)
