Hi, I got a Slim PSP using the latest custom firmware, 3.90m33-2. About a minute ago, it was playing fine but my problem started when I swapped my memory stick. When I swapped my memory stick, my PSP instantly shuts down. I tried swapping the memory stick again and the same thing happened. Oddly, I can boot my PSP without inserting any memory stick but when I tried inserting one back, it shuts down.

Any ideas on what could cause this? Thanks in advance.

did you swap your memory card when you were playing a game or in the xmb?

I swapped it in the XMB. I can access my XMB even now. It's just that whenever I inserted a memory stick, it shuts itself down. I hope it's not a technical/motherboard problem.

Can you boot to the recovery menu when your memory stick is inserted?

If you can, go into the recovery menu (hold the R trigger when turning on the PSP). Plug in your USB cable from the computer to your PSP. Select "Toggle USB" in the recovery menu. Now your memory stick contents should appear on your computer.

On your computer, go to "My Computer". Select the drive of your memory stick. Right click it and select "format". Start the format and once it has completed, exit USB mode on your PSP, exit the recovery menu and take the USB cable out.

I can do anything without a memory stick inserted including going to the recovery menu. I think this is showing signs of a hardware problem. Ah well. Thanks for the replies guys. Happy gaming xD
