VGA - Full HD Problem

Hi folks,
I'm having a pretty stupid problem.
I'm running my Xbox360 with the VGA Cable on my TFT. So far so good, but when I choose 1920x1080 as resolution, not the whole picture is there. I can try to adjust somethign manually but not enough to make it fit the screen.
Just before anyone comes "can your Monitor display that resolution"... yes it very well can. Even more: 1920x1080.
Using this resolution in Windows isn't much of a problem (if you ignore the litte scaling thing), but why doesn't the XBox use all of that.
I've already tried HDMI to DVI. I had the whole picture, but I have horizontal lines every where and sometimes the text was doubled (so to speak).
I mean, there must be a bloody way to get this in full HD to work. I hope anyone can help me.

Have you checked the settings on the Xbox as far as the screen ratio?
Like letterbox or 16:9 or 4:3
to make sure it is not 16:9 which is widescreen.

1920x1200 is also widescreen, 16:10, which is more than the HD resolution, therefore it should be completely on the monitor although a little streatched in height, but still completely, which is unfortunately not the case at all.
Also choosing 1920x1080, there, obviously, no option for another ratio.
I'm still not sure why the monitor does this.

i suppose you can't play on 1080p with component cable either? I got a 1080p hd tv but im limited to play only on 720p or 1080i, i dont know why, i guess it's because im using component cable.

Yes, as far as I know, if you are using a component cable, you can't get past 1080i.
HDMi (in case you have an Elite Version) ora VGA cable could get the job done...
Although, I think I remember using component cable (through X2VGA2) enabled also 1080p, only that the X2VGA2 wasn't capable of 1080p (unfortunately I'm having the old version -.-).
And my Monitor (Samsung 245B) has only VGA and DVI-D Input.
What really bothers me is that HDMI to DVI isn't possible because of some Microsoft issues...(There is an entry in the MSDN on Microsoft's Homepage: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937898?sd=xbox )

in which I also asked, since this was completely about XBox and I wasn't the only one with that kind of issue (obviously I can't find ynone having the same problem using the VGA cable -.-)

which cable gives best picture though, if both are on 720p or 1080i? VGA or component? First i thought the VGA but isnt the VGA cable cheaper than the component cable?

The VGA is a standard Monitor Cable and therefore very well suited for HD Resolutions as long as you have the right input.
I don't think there is any quality problem with either. VGA is, nonetheless, still a used cable for Monitors (if getting less used because of DVI). And since Computers are quite flexible in what they output to the monitor is has to be capable of many things.
Anyway, I don't think you would see a different picture if you'd exchange the cables. I don't know about the component, but the VGA is sure capable of 1080p.
About the price... HDMI is very expensive, and doesn't necessarily give a better picture than VGA. So I wouldn't think too much about the price.
But I don't give you any guarantee that I am totall right about these things... I might very well be telling to total bullshit, (although I don't think that is true ^^).
Sheesh, here I am, having a problem and advising others... I'm to desperate to get this thing solved -.-

OK, I have the same monitor and I had the same problem when connected via VGA (never tried HDMI).
Go to your xbox display settings and choose 1920 x 1080. This is the part where the display is getting all f**ked up. So, when you do this and asked if you want to keep the current settings, you will answer NO. After this, the display will be as it should be, in the resolution you want (1920 x 1080), but the message if you want to keep the current setting will still be there. This time you will answer YES, that you want to keep the current settings. I don't know if this trick works with the HDMI problem, but give it a go and let me know.

You've got a good english...
But about the trick... Isn't it weird= I mean, you have to say "no" and it asks again? Or is it, that it has two 1080p modes?
Anyway, I certainly WILL test this, but I can't right now, next Thursday I will give it a try!

Well, it most certainly is weird!!! I don't know what's causing it. Probably the monitor...probably the xbox...or it's just the specific combination of this particular monitor with the xbox. One word that I have for it, other than weird...it's a bug :)

Most likely it is.
But what I was wondering is... If it then really is 1080 or something else?
Does it say so in the Monitors OSD Menu? (the encircled I)

Good point! The first time I did the trick, I was wondering the same thing. So,I opened the monitor menu and checked the "i" tab. What I got was this:
Analog
67.5kHz 60Hz PP
1920 x 1080
So, the answer to your question is...Yes, it is 1080p! At least that's what the monitor says...

Too bad the monitor isn't huge enough to show the difference clearly. I mean, on 24" you can see the difference of course, but it isn't as obvious as it would be if the monitor was, say twice the size ^_^
But if the monitor say 1080, then I think it is just that.
But that is a mean trick, really. Because normally you wouldn't say "no", you'd say "yes" in that menu, to try it out and change it back later and never try it again, and if, you'd say yes again. Maybe MS wanted to fool us? xD

So it seems.
But about MS... Since it isn't somehow Samsung's fault (I mean, it does display the 1080), and the XBox has this weird thing (choosing no and then again no.. weird ^^) it really comes back to MS.
But anyway, I hope it will work for me too, not that I have some kind of different Version and this hasn't this "bug" anymore O.o

When you do the trick, let me know if it works.
And if you want, try to do it with both cables, first with vga and then with hdmi.
Just to see if this fixes both.

I can't check the HDMI, since I don't have the adaptor anymore.
But for the VGA:
AFFIRMATIVE! It does work exactly as you said.
Funny thing I noticed. When choosing "no" it also says in parenthesis "try again" or somethign like that (don't know if it is the real english term, since I am using all german).
