Hey guys I was wondering.. would the original ssbb work with a wiikeyed system of the same region. So ssbb(usa) with NTSC (U). I think I read somewhere that someone had a ntsc (j) system and the ssbb jap and it didnt work. Can anyone confirm?

So far as I know, no one has gotten an origional SSBB disk working on a wiikeyed wii of any region, U, J or PAL. Its not a problem with the game, but the chip. The wiikey simply dosent support dual layer origionals.
Single and dual layer backup copies work with wiikeys though.
Personally, I buy games and keep them safe, then just play the backups becuase my brother has a habit of destroying game disks. But I'm still kind of annoyed that I'm going to have this game disk that I cant play.

heh thanks.. does anyone know when this update is supposed to come out? I remember vaguely that they said they were creating one and thats odd that it can play fake dl discs but not originals =.=

Well I cant really fault them too much on lack of support for DL origionals. When they made the chip there were no DL games to test it on, only burned DL disks.
Unfortuinatly, last word from the wiikey team was feb 1st or 2nd at which time they said they were working on the update and it would be out 'soon'
Now they've always been extreamly slow with updates but me, and probably most people, are losing hope thats they're going to fix this issue. Seems that we wiikey owners are stuck playing backups unless we want to swap out to a cyclowiz chip or another replacment.

On a switch there are two metal pins. You connect one end to the power on the Wiikey, and then the other to one of the metal pins on the switch. Then you connect another wire from the power of the Wii's board to the other metal pin. When the switch is on the Wiikey gets power. When you switch it off the Wiikey does not get power.

It only works if you used a wired install, but all you have to do is cut one of the wires (forget which one) and install a small switch on it.
Most switched installs I've seen have the switch coming out one of the gamecube memory card slots. I've even seen one where they installed the chip into a GC memory card, soldered the connectors to contact with the wires running to the drive. Very interesting install but more work than I was willing to go through.

heh so I guess you cant apply a switch if its been soldered? Also how do you rip dl games?
