i just bought a pre-modded psp slim & lite with the latest CFW 3.90 M33-2.. If a firmware update is available, can I just use the network update feature of the PSP to obtain the latest upcoming CFW?

Make sure that in recovery mode (Hold the R Button) You have Use M33 network Update set to Enabled in the Config section

Recovery mode is part of M33.

I am still waiting to see if anyone has had any issues Running off a Pandora battery. But I would Probably Suggest haveing a 512MB+ Mem stick to Make a MMS, and Use something like UPMS and the Multi-IPL on your MMS and the Standard boot IPL on your other sticks, so if something hapens and you brick you new psp you can recover.
